At the first Ordinary Council Meeting of its term, East Gippsland Shire Council unanimously opposed the proposal for the Fingerboards Mineral Sands Project, based on the information presented in the proponent’s Environmental Effects Statement (EES).

Council is reminding community members officers will be in Paynesville this Friday and Saturday to get your feedback on two concept plans for proposed upgrades in two areas - Slip Road Maritime Precinct and Progress Jetty foreshore.

East Gippsland Shire Council monitors and applies treatment to some mosquito breeding grounds, however the sources are wide across the Gippsland Lakes and the focus is around high-density townships.

Council does not spray adult mosquitoes but treats in the larval stages where the mosquitoes can be managed through biological larvicides across known sites.

Council has received a request to name a walking track in Paynesville - Dinni Birraark Walk. The extended community is invited to provide feedback on this proposal.
