Place Planning and Place Plans
Council takes a place-based approach because our communities differ in their strengths, challenges, and priorities. Place Planning helps us recognise these differences and understand what support is most meaningful for locals.

From this, we also develop Place Plans - practical, easy-to-read documents that bring together community aspirations, local data, and Council’s strategic work into one coordinated, action-focused plan for each district.
Place Plans are central to our commitment to place-based planning, ensuring each district’s unique identity and priorities are reflected in future decision-making. Each plan is built on detailed community profiling, local research, and district mapping and influencing how we plan, invest, and deliver services. Council then uses a range of engagement tools to gather community feedback on opportunities and priorities - helping Council understand what matters most at a local level and shape a clear, action-oriented plan.
