East Gippsland Shire Council has received its 2026 Community Satisfaction Survey results, a statewide survey conducted annually on behalf of the Victorian Government by an independent research provider. The survey gathers feedback from a representative sample of residents across the municipality and provides a benchmarked measure of community perceptions of Council’s performance and services, compared with other councils.

East Gippsland Shire Council chief executive officer, Fiona Weigall, said the results highlight areas of strength while also identifying opportunities for continued improvement.

“Community feedback is essential in helping us understand what matters most to our residents and where we need to focus our efforts,” Ms Weigall said.

The survey indicates overall performance has improved both locally and in comparison with similar councils. The benchmarking results show Council is performing on par with, or ahead of, other large rural councils in several areas, reflecting genuine progress.

The survey also provides valuable direction for future planning and service delivery, helping Council prioritise investment in areas most important to the community. Key focus areas include roads and infrastructure, community engagement and consultation, and strengthening advocacy for East Gippsland residents.

“Council remains committed to listening to our community and using this feedback to guide decision-making and improve the services we deliver,” Ms Weigall said.

“We also capture feedback in a range of other ways throughout the year through our teams, ensuring we stay connected to community views on an ongoing basis.”
