Our coastline is one of the region's most valuable and distinctive assets, supporting important environmental, cultural, social and economic values. These areas are used and enjoyed by residents, visitors, Traditional Owners, businesses and community groups, while also facing increasing pressures from climate change, population growth and competing demands on limited coastal space.
The Coastal and Marine Management Plan provides a coordinated framework for managing Council-managed coastal reserves across East Gippsland. Developed in line with Victorian marine and coastal legislation, the plan sets a clear direction for balancing protection, access, recreation, environmental stewardship and community aspirations.
The plan outlines a shared vision, objectives and priority actions to guide decision-making over the next five to ten years. It aims to ensure East Gippsland's coastal and marine environments remain healthy, resilient and valued places for current and future generations.
