East Gippsland Shire Council is pleased to announce that it has appointed leaseholders for the operation and maintenance of Omeo Holiday Park.

Hotham Operations, a division of Saltwater Properties Group will lease the park and has a wealth of experience in the tourism and accommodation industry, positioning Omeo Holiday Park for an exciting future.

Mayor Cr Tom Crook said the five-year lease, with provisions for extensions of up to 20 years, officially commenced on November 1 and marked a significant milestone in the park's journey.

“Nestled along the tranquil banks of Livingstone Creek, Omeo Holiday Park boasts a scenic and pet-friendly environment, offering both powered and unpowered sites. The park has been a cherished destination for travellers and nature enthusiasts, providing unforgettable experiences in the heart of nature,” Cr Crook said.

“Omeo Holiday Park faced a notable challenge in January 2022 when a significant flood required the evacuation of 150 guests.

"The damage was promptly restored the park was able to reopen in time for the Easter holiday. Now, with the new leaseholder, Hotham Operations, Omeo Holiday Park is embarking on an exciting journey of further improvements, including the introduction of self-contained accommodation and enhanced facilities,’’ he added.

“Council would like to thank the Caretakers Australia staff who operated the park while the search for a new leaseholder took place. The team has done an exceptional job in not only rebuilding the park's popularity but also increasing the number of returning guests.

"Their dedication and hard work have been pivotal in ensuring that Omeo Holiday Park remains a cherished destination for all,” said Crook.

Chris Banson, from Saltwater Properties Group, shared his excitement around the project.

‘’We are very excited to add the Omeo Holiday Park to the Saltwater Hotels and Resorts portfolio. The park will be managed in conjunction with our operations in Dinner Plain and Mt Hotham.

“Starting in 2024 we plan to improve the park with new accommodation options including Glamping Tents and Tiny homes. We will also add new playground equipment and improve the existing facilities with a focus on the family group market and the adjoining Mountain Bike trails,” Mr Banson said.
