New brochure puts local farm gates on the map
Date of Issue:
May 12, 2023

East Gippsland Shire Council is celebrating local food and the people who make it across our shire with the “Love Where it’s Grown, Caught, Made” farm gate trail campaign and a new brochure that lists our farm gates on one handy map.

This new brochure and map promotes the many local businesses that grow, harvest, farm and make food, selling it through farm gates, roadside stalls, farmers’ markets or online. It supports local farm gates and helps put more local produce on everyone's plates.

The campaign started in 2022, encouraging people to buy food, drink and products directly from the grower at a farm gate or from Council’s Visitor Information Centres located in Bairnsdale and Lakes Entrance.

At the recent Orbost Show, Council organised a mini Grown, Caught, Made trail for families to follow. About 50 people joined in and learned about local producers and collected goodies from local businesses and agencies.

This was repeated at the East Gippsland Field Days, where 53 families completed the trail and went into daily prize draws for local produce.

The new Grown Caught Made brochure was launched at the Field Days. The brochure is available at Visitor Information Centres across the shire.

Visitors can create their own farm gate trail with guidance from staff at the Visitor Information Centres, by using the itinerary builder feature at www.visiteastgippsland.com.au/taste or by simply using the map.
