Rates Payment Options
How can I pay my rates?
Council offers a number of payment options including by phone, direct debit, instalments, BPay, credit card and secure internet. You can also pay your rates at any Post Office, or at Council Service Centres in Bairnsdale, Lakes Entrance, Omeo, Orbost, Paynesville and Mallacoota.
I’m having difficulty paying – what can I do?
If you cannot make payment by the due date(s), please contact Council on 03 5153 9500 to discuss an arrangement to pay. Applications for assistance will by considered on a case-by-case basis and alternative payment arrangements may be offered. The sooner you contact us, the sooner we can help you.
Payment Options
Rates cover the financial year from 1 July to 30 June and are generally issued by mid August. GST is not applicable to Council rates.
Pay by Mail
If you do not have your rate notice, payment can be posted direct to:

Please note that receipts will not be issued for mailed payments.
Please allow for postal delays as delivery problems will not be accepted as an excuse for late payment.
Pay By Phone
Telephone 1300 321 219 to pay by Visa or MasterCard.
Pay in Person
Present your notice intact to any Council Service Centre.
Pay By BPay
Please contact your participating financial institution to make this payment directly from your nominated account. The Biller code is 125864 and the BPay Reference Number can be found on the front of your rate notice.
Pay By Direct Debit
Complete the Direct Debit Application form and return to Council. Forms can also be obtained at any of Council's Service Centres. Direct Debit Form
Australia Post
Payment can be made at any Australia Post outlet. Payment at the Post Office is only available on or prior to the due date. Present your rates notice intact to any Post Office throughout Australia.
Australia Post payment system or mail delivery delays will not be accepted as an excuse for late payment.
