Strategic land use planning considers the way land is used and developed using the East Gippsland Planning Scheme approved by the Victorian Government.

A Development Plan is a planning tool which implements preferred outcomes and identifies necessary services and infrastructure required to facilitate development of a large parcel of land in a coordinated and integrated manner.

Incorporated documents are essential to the proper functioning of the planning scheme and decision-making.

The East Gippsland Planning Scheme sets out the rules for how land can be used and developed and is a comprehensive legal document. To respond to changes, implement the recommendations or vision of an adopted plan or strategy, incorporate a new Council policy, or improve how the scheme operates, changes called ‘amendments’ are made to the planning scheme.

Restructure plans are used to manage old or inappropriate subdivisions.

Structure plans identify how land is intended and preferred to be developed and provides a framework for consideration of subdivision and development proposals in that area.
