Behind every strong community are people who show up, give their time, and make things happen. Tara Wilson is one of those people.
As National Volunteer Week (18-24 May) approaches, we’re celebrating the dedication of our outstanding staff. Today, we’re proud to recognise Tara Wilson, our Youth Resilience Officer, who volunteers with the Australian Army Cadets at 313 Army Cadet Unit Bairnsdale, where she was recently promoted to the rank of LT (AAC).
In her role as Logistics Officer, Tara ensures cadets are properly equipped with uniforms and the necessary gear to safely and effectively participate in training activities. She also supports cadet activities by running the canteen during training and events. Tara has been involved with the cadet program for six years as a volunteer, following six years as a cadet herself.
This long-standing connection gives her a strong understanding of the value the program provides to young people. As a former cadet, Tara knows firsthand how important the experience is in building confidence, skills, and leadership. She is passionate about ensuring others have access to the same opportunities and takes great pride in supporting cadets as they grow, learn and step into leadership roles.
National Volunteer Week (18–24 May) is the perfect time to recognise those making a difference through the East Gippsland Volunteer Honour Roll. Nominate a volunteer for the East Gippsland Volunteer Honour Roll
Nominations close COB Friday 15 May.
