Local contractors swapped tools for teacups on Friday 21 August, coming together with East Gippsland Shire Council for the annual Contractors’ Breakfast.
Around 80 contractors joined Council staff and managers at the WORLD Centre in Bairnsdale.
Attendees heard about Council's upcoming projects and works pipeline, changes to project management and procurement, and different procurement approaches, including early contractor involvement. The session also covered tendering and evaluation processes, with plenty of time set aside for contractors to ask questions directly of Council staff.
Mayor Cr Jodie Ashworth said the Contractors’ Breakfast was just one of the many ways Council continues to back local business.
"From events like the breakfast through to workshops, we want local businesses to know Council is in their corner," Cr Ashworth said.
"Giving contractors visibility of what's coming up helps them plan ahead and put their hand up for the tenders, and supporting initiatives like Business Victoria's Small Business Bus and Generating Cash Flow workshop gives business owners practical tools to grow and manage their business with confidence."
"We're also looking forward to welcoming the Jobs Expo back to East Gippsland in October – another great example of Council creating opportunities for our community to connect, learn and grow."
