How Bairnsdale grows and changes over the next 25 years is something we want to shape together.
Bairnsdale 2050 is our shared plan for how the town will grow and change over the next 25 years. It looks at the opportunities and challenges ahead across housing and neighbourhoods, transport, the local economy, community facilities, public places and environmental sustainability.
During phase 1, many of you shared your ideas through a range of activities. Along with technical research, your feedback helped establish the priorities for the draft strategy. Now, we want you to take a look at the draft and tell us what's working, what needs strengthening and what's missing.
Whether you're a resident, business owner, landowner, part of a community organisation, or someone who visits, works or studies in Bairnsdale, your perspective matters, and we encourage you to have your say.
East Gippsland Shire Council Mayor Cr Jodie Ashworth said the draft was now back in the community's hands.
"We want to know: have we got the directions right, and what should we prioritise as we plan for Bairnsdale's future?
You don't need to be a planning expert to take part. Whether you live, work, study, run a business or raise a family here, we want to hear what matters to you and what will make Bairnsdale an even better place to live, work and visit."
There are several ways to get involved during phase 2. You can review the draft strategy, complete an online survey, drop in to a session to chat with the team, or send us written feedback. Your input will help Council refine the draft before finalising the Bairnsdale 2050 strategy.
Community engagement is open from Monday 2 November to Monday 30 November 2026 with proposed drop-in sessions schduled as follows:

Monday, 16 November: 2.00 pm - 6.00 pm – Bairnsdale Library Meeting Room 1
