East Gippsland's biggest celebration of our older community is back this October as part of the Victorian Seniors Festival and East Gippsland Shire Council wants your event to be part of it.
This year's theme is: ‘Connect, Create and Celebrate’, and that is what we plan to offer throughout the shire. The popular Seniors Concert is on Wednesday 14 October, with Wendy Stapleton bringing the songs of the 60s back to life on stage. Throughout the entire month, Council will host other events at Service Centres.
Now it's over to the community to fill out the rest of the program. It can be anything that gets seniors out, active and having fun. A morning tea, an art class, a fitness session, a nature walk, live music, a sports day, a come-and-try day, or an information session – if it's happening in October and it's for seniors, we want to hear about it and put the listing in the printed booklet. The event details need to be submitted by Sunday 16 August via email to rhondaj@egipps.vic.gov.au
Mayor Cr Jodie Ashworth is already looking forward to the Seniors Concert and the entire series of events. "The East Gippsland Seniors Festival just keeps getting bigger and better every year, and that's because of the incredible range of events our community puts on. Whether you're planning something big or small, we want to help you shout about it so get your details in to be featured in the booklet and let's make this October our best festival yet."
