Date of Issue:
October 20, 2025

What is happening?

East Gippsland Shire Council is inviting everyone to celebrate the opening of a new Changing Places facility in Lakes Entrance.

When and where?

• Date: Thursday 6 November

• Time: 1.00 pm

Place: Corner of Myer Street and the Esplanade, Lakes Entrance

Why is this important?

The new facility has:

• Private and safe changerooms and toilets for people with disability and high support needs

• Height-adjustable adult-sized changing table

• Ceiling hoist and accessible shower

• Braille and tactile signs

• Space for carers

This means more people can enjoy Lakes Entrance’s foreshore, shops, parks, and community spaces.

What the Mayor says:

“This facility gives everyone a fair go to get out and enjoy our community, no matter their needs. It opens up opportunities for visitors and locals who’ve often missed out,” said Mayor Cr John White.

Who paid for this?

The project was funded by:

• East Gippsland Shire Council

• Victorian Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH) – Changing Places Funding Round 2022

This is one of 19 Changing Places facilities being built across Victoria, including one under construction in Cann River.

Event details:

The official opening will include:

• Short speeches

• Ribbon-cutting ceremony

• Community barbecue

Everyone is welcome to join!
