Trail #1 (shown in red) – The extent of the walking trail starts at the North Arm highway bridge extending to the water edge at The Narrows, west to Kalimna Jetty, up the path at the right, to Hotel Road, along Hotel Road to the crossing point at Princes Highway. Then continues across the highway then along the path past the Mount Barkly Light to Seaview Parade, then south down the path back to the Highway Bridge to be named ‘Jemmys Point Walk’.
Trail #2 (shown in yellow) – The extent of the walking trail starting from the North Arm highway bridge extending up beside the Princes Highway to the Kalimna lookout to be named ‘Mount Barkly Walk’.

Mount Barkly Walk – Mount Barkly is the registered name of the hill the main Kalimna residential area is located on. Jemmys Point Walk – Jemmys Point is the southern point of Mount Barkly.
Background
All road, tracks and trails that are open to public or services shall be named. This assists the public, emergency services, and other service providers to accurately identify and locate places.
Council has an obligation in accordance with the Local Government Act 1989, the Geographic Place Names Act 1998 and associated guidelines to ensure public safety and responsible service delivery to the community.
The above proposed trail naming adheres to the Naming rules for places in Victoria– Statutory requirements for naming roads, features and localities 2022 (the Naming Rules) and Australian New Zealand Standards for rural and urban addressing AS/NZS 4819:2011.
Submissions
This proposal complies with the Naming rules for places in Victoria – Statutory requirements for naming roads, features and localities – 2022.
Community members are invited to respond to this proposal before its formal consideration by the Registrar of Geographic Names Victoria. Council will advertise the results of this consultation in due course.
