Council is proposing to rename View Street LAKES ENTRANCE to ‘Sunset View’.
The location and extent of the road proposed to be renamed is shown below:

The extended community is invited to provide feedback on this proposal.
We have received several reports that a duplicate road name and 18duplicate address numbers between View Streets, Lakes Entrance and Lake Tyers Beach has caused confusion for mail and delivery services, and other organisations. The two roads are within 7.7 kilometers of each other and share the same postcode. This duplication has the potential to cause confusion and delays for emergency responders.
Although it has existed for longer and services more properties, renaming View Street, Lakes Entrance will resolve the name duplication issue, and a compliant road type will be allocated. The road is a cul-de-sac (court type) not an open-ended road (street type).
Receiving significant support from affected property owners and residents, the new road name recognises the picturesque sunsets often witnessed from this road.
The above proposed road renaming adheres to the Naming rules for places in Victoria– Statutory requirements for naming roads, features and localities 2022 (the Naming Rules) and Australian New Zealand Standard for rural and urban addressing AS/NZS 4819:2011.
This proposal complies with the Naming rules for places in Victoria –Statutory requirements for naming roads, features and localities – 2022.
Affected property owners/ratepayers/occupiers have been consulted regarding the renaming proposal and now Community members are invited to respond to this proposal before its formal consideration by the Registrar of Geographic Names Victoria.
