In the lead up to National Volunteer Week next week (18–24 May), we’re celebrating the dedication of our outstanding staff who give their time, skills and heart to support our communities. Today, we recognise Lindenow CFA volunteer firefighter Daniel Heinrichs who has proudly volunteered with the organisation for 20 years and currently serves as Lieutenant and Training Officer at the brigade.
Whilst at Council, Daniel is our Development Compliance Officer. For Daniel, volunteering is about being there for people on some of their hardest days, while also being inspired by the “local legends” who make up the brigade membership. With over two decades of service, he has gained not only lifelong friendships and a strong sense of community, but also valuable training and professional development opportunities through CFA.
Daniel's advice for anyone considering volunteering? “If I knew what was involved when I applied, I may never have joined. Knowing now what’s involved, I should have joined earlier!” National Volunteer Week runs from 18–24 May and is the perfect opportunity to recognise the volunteers who make a difference across East Gippsland through the Volunteer Honour Roll.
