Second stage of seawall on schedule
Date of Issue:

The second stage of the Lakes Entrance seawall replacement and enhancement project between Carpenter and Myer streets remains on schedule. East Gippsland Shire Council said contractors completing the works on Council’s behalf were currently not on site, which had prompted some local interest.

General Manager Assets and Environment Fiona Weigall said the local contractors working on the seawall are currently working on another project in Lakes Entrance – the new lookout at Kalimna - but that would not impact on the September completion date of the seawall.

“Both are important projects for Lakes Entrance and our contractors have provided an assurance the seawall project would not be delayed. The contractors will make up the time,” Ms Weigall said.

The project, partly funded by the State Government, will be finished by September and includes installation of a new concrete panel wall in front of the existing aged wall. The wall will feature an attractive boardwalk and stainless-steel handrail.
