The Albanese and Carroll Labor Governments are attracting more visitors to Paynesville with upgrades that will get more people out on the Gippsland Lakes.
Minister Settle announced the official opening of the Slip Road Maritime Precinct.
This was made possible by a combined investment of more than $13 million from all levels of government.
The project was delivered in stages over several years and guided by the Paynesville Maritime Precinct Masterplan.
It will support local businesses, jobs and tourism while helping make Paynesville a leading boating destination.
Stage one delivered better road connections to the Paynesville CBD, a new seawall to protect the shoreline and precinct, and a pedestrian boardwalk with improved access for people of all ages and abilities.
Building on this, stage two installed new floating jetties and a boat ramp, making it easier to launch recreational and commercial boating activities at the site – including marine tours and fishing expeditions.
These upgrades will drive recreational boating and tourism spending in town, attract commercial boathire businesses, and support further growth in eastern Victoria’s largest maritime services industry.
The upgrades have been supported by more than $5 million from the Victorian Government, more than $7 million from East Gippsland Shire Council and $1 million from the Australian Government.
More than $50 billion has been delivered through the Caroll Labor Government over the past decade to make our regions even better places to live, work, visit and study.
