East Gippsland Shire Council will soon begin enforcing the two-hour parking limit in the Coles car park in Bairnsdale.

East Gippsland Shire Council will soon begin enforcing the two-hour parking limit in the Coles car park in Bairnsdale to ensure fair access for shoppers.
‍

The car park has signs advising it is a two-hour parking zone. As it is private property, Council could not enforce this restriction without permission from the owners.
‍

Coles approached Council to enter into an agreement for Council to monitor the car park to ensure drivers were keeping to the two-hour limit.
‍

The new parking measure is designed to achieve a normal vehicle rotation throughout the day and make it easier for customers to do business. Council and Woolworths have the same agreement in place for Woolworths’ car park.
‍

Mayor John White said the measure aims to keep parking available for customers.
‍

“Located near Bairnsdale’s CBD, this car park is a convenient choice for many, but it is intended for Coles shoppers. The two-hour limit helps maintain a steady turnover, ensuring more people can access parking when they need it,” John said.
‍

Council’s Authorised Officers will be monitoring the car park from Friday 11 April. Infringements will be issued from Monday 5 May unless there are persistent breaches identified before then. Currently the fine for parking longer than permitted is $99.
‍

Council encourages all residents, visitors, and businesses to take note of the signage and adhere to the parking limits to support a fair and efficient system for everyone.
‍

For those requiring all day parking, spaces are available in the Service Street car park, between Macleod and Dalmahoy Streets.
