It’s on! Victorian Youth Week
Date of Issue:
October 29, 2020

Young people across East Gippsland are being supported to stay connected and showcase their creativity with Victorian Youth Week moving online.

A special month-long Victorian Youth Week will take place from November 15 to December 15, with all events to take place online and in line with COVID-19 restrictions at the time of the activity.

East Gippsland Shire Council’s General Manager Place and Community Jodie Pitkin said this new month-long format recognises the significant challenges our communities have faced this year and will provide more time for young people to redesign and adapt events and activities to take place online.

“Youth Week is an opportunity for everyone to get involved in assisting young people aged 12-25 to express their ideas, provide opportunities for their voices to be heard as well as celebrate young people’s talents, achievements and contribution to our community,” Ms Pitkin said.

“After being postponed earlier this year due to COVID-19, Victorian Youth Week 2020 is fast approaching, and Council is supporting the event by helping to promote events and activities across the shire.”

Last year Council coordinated Colourfest at Lakes Entrance and a music workshop. Activities for 2020 will include the Youth Arts Prize and Plug In music online forum on Wednesday, November 18 at 5pm.

Schools, groups, agencies and businesses across East Gippsland are encouraged to organise local activities and events during Youth Week that support and involve young people to build social connections and engage in fun activities to support their health and wellbeing.

Register your Youth Week event and/or activity by completing the registration form before November 6. Contact Maz Kelly on 95153 9500 for further information.
