East Gippsland Shire Council is proud to be partnering with Monarch Institute and Business Victoria to deliver a hands-on workshop, titled ‘Starting your small business’, aimed at equipping aspiring local business owners with the knowledge and confidence to take the first step in their entrepreneurial journey.

Taking place on Wednesday 4 June at The Hub in Bairnsdale, this free, three-hour session is designed for anyone considering starting a small business, side hustle, or freelance venture. Whether you're a creative, a service provider, or simply someone with a great idea, this session will provide clear, practical guidance from experienced industry professionals.

Mayor, Cr John White said the workshop aligns with Council’s commitment to strengthening the local economy and fostering opportunities for employment and innovation.

“Small and medium-sized businesses are the backbone of East Gippsland’s economy. They provide jobs, services and connection in our towns and communities,” said John.

“Council is proud to support initiatives like this that empower our community to shape their own futures and contribute to our region’s ongoing growth.”

Workshop attendees will learn how to:

  • Choose the right business structure
  • Register their business or company name
  • Understand insurance and operating needs
  • Develop a compelling business overview
  • Create an actionable business launch plan

Presented by expert facilitators, the session also includes bonus take-home materials and ongoing support options. Places are limited, so early registration is encouraged.
