East Gippsland Shire Councillors are heading to the High Country on Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 October to meet residents, businesses and groups and hear about what’s happening in their communities.
Mayor Cr John White said the visits provide an opportunity to hear from locals, discuss what’s working and where improvements could be made, and share priorities and ideas in an informal setting.
“Our teams are doing some great work with the community across the High Country – from the mountain bike trails and supporting economic development and the rural sector, to infrastructure improvements and place planning,” John said.
“We’re looking forward to seeing and hearing about this work first-hand and engaging with the community. We have a mix of community open sessions and targeted meetings and events planned.”
An open invitation is extended to the community to attend:
To RSVP (for catering purposes), please email civicevents@egipps.vic.gov.au or phone (03) 5153 9500.
During the visit, Councillors and staff will also tour local facilities and meet with representatives from community groups, local organisations and the business community, including visits to the Swifts Creek Recreation Reserve, Swifts Creek Community Centre, Omeo Community Hub, Omeo Region BTA, and a tour of the mountain bike trails.
“We’re committed to being visible, accessible and available to the community – and that means taking the time to listen and learn,” John said.
Omeo District Place Plan workshops
In addition to the Councillors’ visit, a series of community workshops to listen and learn more about community priorities – which will help shape the Omeo District Place Plan – are also being held.
