Feature naming proposal – Telfer Hill

Council has received a submission to name a feature on Bairnsdale – Dargo Road in the locality of Walpa “Telfer Hill”. The community is invited to provide feedback on this proposal.

Background

Council has received a detailed proposal, from descendants of the Telfer family, requesting that the name ‘Telfer’ be recognised within the area of the Lindenow district, preferably within the Walpa area. The submission details the Telfer family involvement in the local and regional community.

 

This proposal is to formally name the hill on the Bairnsdale - Dargo Road in the locality of Walpa as “Telfer Hill”. This hill has previously been referred to as “Telfer’s Hill” in historic records.

 

Submissions

This proposal complies with the Naming rules for places in Victoria – Statutory requirements for naming roads, features and localities – 2016.

 

Community members are invited to respond to this proposal if they wish to give feedback, before its formal consideration by the Office of Geographic Names.
