Boundary realignment

A submission has been lodged for approval to realign the Hillside/Bairnsdale locality boundary as shown below:

Boundary realignment Hillside - Bairnsdale image.png

The community is invited to provide feedback on this proposal.

Background

The Shannon Waters Estate is split by the current Hillside / Bairnsdale locality boundary; a number of allotments have the current boundary running through the middle of their property along with a number of other properties affected by addressing issues within the Shannon Waters Estate.

Council proposes to move the Hillside / Bairnsdale locality boundary from its current position; relocating it to Mittons Road (to the west) and terminating at the Mitchell River (as shown above).  Council believes this placement is better as it is less likely to create confusion for emergency and communication services; reducing the risk to public safety.

This proposal is supported by the Mayor and Councillors of East Gippsland Shire Council and complies with the Naming rules for places in Victoria – Statutory requirements for naming roads, features and localities – 2016.

Community members are now invited to respond to this proposal, prior to its formal consideration by the Office of Geographic Names.  If you like further information please contact Linda Bullen - Rates and Property Officer (Naming) on 03 5153 9500.
