Coronavirus vaccine information January 2021

Top things to know about the vaccine:

  1. The vaccine will be tested to ensure it is safe before it is made available to people. To make a vaccine available in Australia it needs to pass Australian safety standards set by the Therapeutic Goods Administration.
  2. The vaccine will be free.
  3. Victoria will be ready to administer the first doses of the vaccine in March 2021, if the vaccine is safe and approved. It is expected that there will be limited doses of the coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine initially with certain groups to be prioritised for the first doses. You can check the Australian Government website for latest updates.
  4.  It is highly likely people will need two doses (injections) of the vaccine.

  5. The best person to talk to if you have concerns about your health and getting the coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine is your doctor.

Immunisation records may be accessed through your MyGov account.

Council has a comprehensive immunisation program for infants, children and adults, including secondary school children through our School Immunisation program.

All eligible children can receive vaccinations on the Australian Standard Vaccination Schedule free of charge through council's immunisation sessions.

All immunisation sessions are now only available by appointment.

You will need to stay for 15 minutes after vaccination, to allow for observation.
