Information about septic tank system permits, treatment plants and composting toilets.
You need to get a permit from council before you install or alter any part of a septic tank system.
You then need to get a permit to use the septic system before it is used and an occupancy permit obtained.
You need a permit for all wastewater systems in unsewered areas (including septic tanks, treatment plants and composting toilets).

Send your septic tank application form to Council with:

the fee for either installation or alteration

a plan of the location of the site

a site plan of the proposed installation
-
a copy of the land capability assessment report

copy of certificate of conformity (Aerated wastewater system only)
