Metung-Nungurner District

Metung-Nungurner District includes Metung, Nungurner, Kings Cove, Tambo Bluff and Tambo Bay.

Located on a thin peninsula on the shores of Lake King and Bancroft Bay, the tranquil village of Metung is primarily a residential area with a high proportion of non-resident owners. It is almost entirely surrounded by water and is a popular boating area and a favourite destination for holidaymakers.

Nearby Nungurner is as a small residential lakeside hamlet with high environmental values and natural habitat with an attractive lake foreshore as the focal point of the community.

Metung Village Centre Master Plan

The Metung Village Centre Master Plan will assist to guide the function and look of the Village’s public spaces over the next 20 years, providing a structure for future works and management.

In 2017, we asked the Metung community for suggestions and ideas on what makes Metung special, what you would like to fix and your big ideas for the town.

Much of the feedback we received centred on a desire to see the Lake King Beach upgraded.

While the final draft Metung Village Master Plan is still being developed, the draft concept design for Lake King beach is being released for public comment and discussion, with feedback closing February 16, 2018. The remaining concepts will be released later in 2018.
