Projects aplenty in Bairnsdale

Friday 09 March

Foot and vehicle traffic will experience some minor disruptions in Bairnsdale while East Gippsland Shire Council works on two projects.

The project to construct a roundabout at the intersection of Francis and Service streets also included new footpaths for part of Service Street.

The eastern side of the street was completed before Christmas, with works now underway on the western side of the street between Francis and Nicholson streets.

It is business as usual for the traders, with access being maintained.

Outside the CBD, council is undertaking works to resolve draining issues south of the Princes Highway in the southern section of Hadfield Street and McMillan Street.

This is Stage 1 of a two-stage project. Stage 2 relates to the eastern area of this catchment at McMillan Street and Phillips Lane.

Initial works involved installing stormwater pits and drainage pipes. The project will improve drainage and road safety in the area.

Partial road closures and full road closures can be expected from next week for the duration of the project to allow kerb and channel, drainage, and road reconstruction works to be completed safely.
