Council meeting comes to Orbost

Sunday 03 November

East Gippsland Shire Council is looking forward to taking its November meeting to Orbost.

The meeting will be held at the Orbost Customer Service Centre on Tuesday, November 12 at 1pm and is the fourth and final meeting to be held outside the Corporate Centre in Bairnsdale this year. Council has also taken meetings ‘on the road’ to Mallacoota, Lakes Entrance and Omeo this year.

It will be the first meeting in the chair for newly elected Mayor Cr John White, who encourages community members to attend.

“Councillors enjoy the opportunity to hold these meetings in our towns outside Bairnsdale and make deliberations and decisions of Council more accessible,” Cr White said.

“We will also meet with representatives of community groups, business leaders, residents and inspect council works, including the new streetscaping, in the district during our visit,” Cr White said.

A free community breakfast for residents to meet informally with councillors and senior officers will be held on Wednesday, November 13 from 7.30 to 9am at Forest Park. All are welcome to attend the open community breakfast.

“This is a great opportunity to chat informally and hear first-hand about the opportunities, concerns and projects in the town,” Cr White said.

Artworks created by talented young East Gippslanders who entered Council’s 2019 Youth Art Prize will also be on exhibition at the Customer Service Centre. The exhibition will run during business hours from November 12-15.

The agenda for the November 12 Council meeting is available on the Friday afternoon prior to the meeting on Council’s website or at any of our Customer Service Centres.
