Connect, Collaborate & Celebrate

23 November - 1 December

Celebrate Social Inclusion Week by holding or attending a socially inclusive event to raise awareness and foster belonging in your local community. One of the simplest things we can do to build caring and inclusive communities is to reach out to those around us.

Social Inclusion Week is about encouraging communities to reconnect and be inclusive of all cultures, aged groups, nationalities and the disadvantaged.

Council is committed to making East Gippsland a leader in promoting and developing communities that value diversity and encourage belonging and understanding. Council's vision is for a socially inclusive community where everyone is valued, and opportunities are created to participate in community life.

To support this vision and to promote inclusion opportunities we have produced a guide to free events and activities across the region.

Hard copies of the Free Event Guides will be available at Council Service Centres or download a copy  Social Inclusion Week Free Event Guide 2019

For More information contact Councils Rural Access project Officer on 5153 9500, rebeccap@egipps.vic.gov.au or visit the offical Social Inclusion Week Website www.socialinclusionweek.com.au

International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD)

IDPwD is celebrated worldwide on 3 December recognising the achievements and contributions of people with disability. IDPwD brings together people with disability and the general community and aims to:
- showcase the skills, abilities, contributions and achievements of people with disability
- promote a positive image of people with disability
- involve people with disability and the broader community in activities to celebrate and raise awareness of IDPwD.

The East Gippsland Disability Advisory Committee will again be hosting a community afternoon tea at the Bairnslade Library supporting a range of activites and presentations celebrating the contributions made by PWD in East Gippsland.

Please join us to celebrate and show appreciation to the Diability Advisory Committee for their commitment and support to Council and the community which help to make East Gippsland a more inclusive place for all.

To RSVP or for more information please contact Councils Rural Access Project Officers on 51539500 or email rebeccap@egipps.vic.gov.au
