Connect, Collaborate & Celebrate

21 - 29 November 2020

Celebrate Social Inclusion Week by holding or attending a socially inclusive event to raise awareness and foster belonging in your local community. One of the simplest things we can do to build caring and inclusive communities is to reach out to those around us.

Social Inclusion Week is about encouraging communities to reconnect and be inclusive of all cultures, aged groups, nationalities and the disadvantaged.

Council is committed to making East Gippsland a leader in promoting and developing communities that value diversity and encourage belonging and understanding. Council's vision is for a socially inclusive community where everyone is valued, and opportunities are created to participate in community life.

To support this vision and to promote inclusion opportunities if you are planning or hosting a free community inclusion event please forward information to council for promotion media@egipps.vic.gov.au Conditions apply

Council have in the past produced a guide to free events and activities across the region. Providing free advertising to those activities included with hard copies of the Free Event Guides made available at Council Service Centres or download a copy via weblink Social Inclusion Week Free Event Guide 2019 Guides have include both specific Social Inclusion Week activities and general scheduled activities offered free in this period to support the Weeks objectives.

Further information and local Social Inclusion Week opportunities will be advertised closer to the date. If you require more information contact Council's Rural Access project Officer on 5153 9500, rebeccap@egipps.vic.gov.au or visit the official Social Inclusion Week website www.socialinclusionweek.com.au

International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD)

IDPwD is celebrated worldwide on 3 December recognising the achievements and contributions of people with disability. IDPwD brings together people with disability and the general community and aims to:
- showcase the skills, abilities, contributions and achievements of people with disability
- promote a positive image of people with disability
- involve people with disability and the broader community in activities to celebrate and raise awareness of IDPwD.

The East Gippsland Disability Advisory Committee will again be supporting a range of activities and presentations celebrating the contributions made by PWD in East Gippsland.

Please join us to celebrate and show appreciation to the Disability Advisory Committee for their commitment and support to Council and the community which help to make East Gippsland a more inclusive place for all.

If you are planning an IDPWD event or would like to be part of the celebrations and would like further information please contact Council's Rural Access Project Officers on 51539500 or email rebeccap@egipps.vic.gov.au
