Disability Advisory Committee (DAC)

The Disability Advisory Committee known as the 'DAC' is a voluntary advisory committee to Council and the community.

 

The Committee provides advice on things that matter to people with a disability in the East Gippsland. It seeks to maximise the contribution being made by council and its partners by working with a common agenda to create a more inclusive and accessible region.

 

The Committee is made up of people with a disability, people who are family members or carers of a person with a disability, and service providers. It also includes Councillors and council staff.

 

The members draw on their knowledge and experience to advise and help council consult and engage with the community on its plans, strategies and investments relating to improving access and inclusion.

 

The Committee is voluntary and meets bimonthly. Appointment is for a two-year period.

Appointment of the 2020 Disability Advisory Committee - Delay

*Due to the bushfires and Covid-19 pandemic there has been a delay in the appointment process of the new committee.

 

Applications were extended until 20 February 2020 and shortlisted candidates have undertaken an interview process. Panel recommendations have been presented in camera report for official appointment 21 April Council Meeting. The new committee will commence shortly there after.
