Australia Day

Australia Day is a day to celebrate your way. We support volunteer groups to host Australia Day celebrations in a number of towns.


2019 Australia Day events



Proudly organised by Bairnsdale Classic Car Club in conjunction with the Gippsland Historic Automobile Club

Event held at Rotunda, Main Street Gardens

7.30 to 9.30 am

Aussie breakfast from 8.00 to 9.00 am

Live musical entertainment and traditional gum leaf playing, and classic car display including some iconic Australian vehicles

BYO chair or picnic rug



Proudly organised by Bruthen Lions Club  

Free breakfast from 8.00 to 11.00 am at grassed area near Mechanics Hall


Cann River

Proudly organised by Cann River Community Centre 

Event held at Mick Baum Park (community centre if wet) 

Free breakfast from 8.00 am

Free blood pressure and health checks from 9.00 am 

Australia Day Awards from 9.30 am

Games from 10.00 am and live music starting at 11.00 am


Lakes Entrance

Event held at Mechanics Hall, Mechanic Street 

Free breakfast from 8.00 am

Flag raising ceremony 9.00 am

26ers Club

The 26ers Club, run by the Australia Day Committee Victoria, is open to all Australians born on January 26.

Membership is free and includes a birthday card and lapel pin every year from the Department of Premier and Cabinet and the opportunity to join in the cake cutting at the official Australia Day ceremony.
