Australia Day

Australia Day is a day to celebrate your way. We support volunteer groups to host Australia Day celebrations in a number of towns.

Do you know an amazing Aussie who deserves recognition? Someone who gives so much to our community, an unsung hero, a dedicated community star!

Have you attended a great community event recently?

Nominations are now open for the 2020 East Gippsland Australia Day Awards.

  • Citizen of the Year  
  • Young Citizen of the Year (under 27 years)
  • Community Event of the Year

Nominate online below or visit a Customer Service Centre for a printed form. Nominations close Friday 22 November.

2020 Australia Day Community Celebration Grants

East Gippsland Shire Council is again calling for community groups to organise Australia Day 2020 (Sunday 26 January) celebrations in their community.

 

Grants are available to a range of groups and organisations throughout the shire to assist the community in enjoying Australia Day celebrations.

 

Grants of up to $1,000 are available per organisation and can be made online.

26ers Club

The 26ers Club, run by the Australia Day Committee Victoria, is open to all Australians born on January 26.

Membership is free and includes a birthday card and lapel pin every year from the Department of Premier and Cabinet and the opportunity to join in the cake cutting at the official Australia Day ceremony.
