Business Support

Bushfire Recovery

The impact on business and the economy caused by the ongoing bushfire across the region varies greatly for each industry sector. If not directly affected by the fires, business operators are experiencing an upheaval of normal trade and tourism. This is particularly evident for tourism, retail, agriculture, horticulture and seafood operators.

Council is working closely with all levels of Government recovery support agencies, tourism bodies and industry leaders to plan for immediate and future recovery for the regions economy. Immediate help is available whilst council works with the business community to understand the medium and longer term priorities.

Information is available at Council's Bushfire Recovery Centre located at 24 Service Street Bairnsdale, the Centre houses support officers from, Council, DHS, Centrelink, VFF, Insurance Council, Agriculture Victoria, Disaster Legal Aid and Financial Counselling. Register your business as impacted so we can respond quickly and connect you to business support agencies to help you.

See our Business Operators Information sheet with links to assistance, including business mentoring, to guide some of the immediate must do’s if your business has suffered. See also the Victorian Governments, Business Recovery Services Guide .

Council's Bushfire Recovery Newsletter is released three times weekly, if you would like to receive regular updates subscribe here.
