Business Support

Bushfire Recovery

The impact on business and the economy caused by the recent bushfire and current COVID 19 pandemic varies greatly for each industry sector. If not directly affected by the fires, business operators are experiencing an upheaval of normal trade and tourism.

This is particularly evident for tourism, retail, agriculture, horticulture and seafood operators.

Council is working closely with all levels of government recovery support agencies, tourism bodies and industry leaders to plan for immediate and future recovery for the regions economy.

Immediate help is available whilst council works with the business community to understand the medium and longer term priorities.

Drought assistance

Alongside the current bushfire event, East Gippsland continues to experience a prolonged drought following below average to lowest on record rainfall since 2016.
