Centre redevelopment works complete

The $6.55 million redevelopment includes a warm water pool, interactive children’s water play area, an expanded aquatic area and upgraded all-accessible change facilities, and expanded reception and café areas.

Watch Around Water

East Gippsland Shire Council is committed to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for children when they are in or near the water. To promote the active supervision of children the Bairnsdale Outdoor Pool is an accredited Watch Around Water facility.

Our sole aim is to have zero fatal and non-fatal drowning incidents in our aquatic facilities. To achieve this we cannot rely only on our Pool Lifeguards. We kindly ask that parents/guardians follow our Watch Around Water guidelines.

Children under 5 years old

Must be accompanied into the centre by a responsible parent / guardian and must be constantly and actively supervised during recreational play within arms reach.

Parent / guardian must be in the water with their child.

All children under 5 years will be given a yellow wristband.

This will help lifeguards to identify children who should be within arms reach from their parent / guardian.

Children under 10 years old

Must be accompanied into the centre by a responsible parent / guardian and must be constantly and actively supervised.

The parent / guardian must be positioned to have a clear view of the child with no physical or structural barriers between them and the child / children.

Parents must be prepared to get into the water if needed.

Memberships

Did you know we have no joining fees on all of our memberships! A new, easier to understand, membership model is now available. 

We believe exercising is more fun with friends, so if you're an existing direct debit member who refers a friend to join one of our direct debit memberships you will BOTH receive a FREE fortnight if your friend is still an active member in 90 days!

Join in on our FREE Members Breakfast on the first Friday of the month from 6.30 - 9.00am.

*Off Peak times are 8am - 3:30pm Monday to Friday and all weekend

** People aged under 13 have unlimited pool access, 13-17 year olds access to Health Club during specified times.

Corporate memberships are available for employees from some large employers.  Please contact a member of our Customer Service team to find out if your employer has an arrangement with us.

Fitness

Our large, fully-equipped and supervised Health Club offers a range of equipment to meet all fitness needs.

The Health Club offers an extensive range of equipment from industry leading brands Precor and Life Fitness.

We are also now home to East Gippsland's only Queenax functional training system which provides an increased number of training options meaning you will be able to add some variety into your training program. 

Ongoing programming and support are all part of our standard Health Club memberships however if you're after a more personalised approach Personal Training sessions are available.

Group Fitness 

We offer over 20 classes a week catering for all abilities and fitness levels.

We also offer classes designed for older users or those recovering from heart surgery or other serious illnesses.

Please come in or call one of our professional fitness staff for advice.

Learn To Swim

The centre delivers the Royal Lifesaving 'Swim and Survive' program. Our program is based on making learning fun while teaching water safety and swimming skills. This is achieved by using only qualified instructors teaching small groups to maximise the amount of time your child spends learning.

Childcare

Occasional Care

Our childcare service is in a purpose built facility within the Centre. Whilst your children are in care you are welcome to either use the centre or leave to catch up with friends, get your haircut or attend an important meeting.

Occasional Care runs Monday to Friday for three hours 9.00am - 12.00pm.

After School Care

We offer a fun and exciting After School Program for primary school age children between the ages of 4 and 13 years.

Our programs run each day of the school year through the school term (excluding public holidays) in a supervised, relaxed, safe and fun environment.

Our program provide positive social opportunities and cater for the children of parents who work, study or have other commitments.

Activities include structured and unstructured indoor and outdoor games, art, craft, cooking and special events. We offer a healthy afternoon snack.

All Abilities Program

This is an inclusive activity based program for kids aged between 13 and above.  The program suits all ranges of abilities and runs each school term.

Stadium

The three court, wooden floor, multi-purpose stadium is a wonderful place to practice as a team or come down with a couple of friends for a game of basketball, futsal, netball or volleyball. Please call the centre on 5152 5710 for court availability and costs.

The stadium is also available for hire for larger events or sports competitions, if you would like to make a booking please complete and return our booking form  and a staff member will contact you about your event.
