Cr Mark Reeves

Cr Mark Reeves was re-elected in October 2016. He was first elected to council in 2012 and was Mayor in 2013-14 and Deputy Mayor in 2017-18.


Mark is proud to serve east Gippsland Shire in his second councillor term. He is active in the Shire Youth Ambassador program, Local and Regional Aboriginal Justice Committees, the Local Aboriginal Education Advisory Committee and Audit Committee among other advisory bodies.


He and his family have lived in East Gippsland since moving to Mallacoota in 1995 to Marshmead, Methodist Ladies College’s school near Mallacoota. He is a school principal in the Victorian Government Department of Education.


In 1999 he established the Alpine School, Dinner Plain for the Education Department. The Snowy River campus opened at Marlo in 2007.


Mark is a Churchill Fellow and a Fellow of the Australian College of Educational Leadership.


He is a volunteer firefighter with CFA and has had several campaign fire experiences. 


His spare-time interests include surfing (at the Snowy River Mouth) and riding and restoring European motorcycles.


He is married to and supported by Alice who is also a school principal and has "two brilliant children proudly educated in Government Education at Orbost Secondary College".


Cr Reeves was a Council representative to the following external organisations:

• East Gippsland Local Aboriginal Justice Action Committee

• Gippsland Regional Aboriginal Justice Action Committee

• East Gippsland Local Road Safety Strategy Committee
