Sustainability Victoria/ResourceSmart
Council is actively involved in various programs initiated by Sustainability Victoria, which aims to assist with making East Gippsland’s schools, businesses and the general community more sustainable.
Sustainability Victoria is a State Government body with a vision to lead the way in using our resources more efficiently and reduce our everyday environmental impacts. To achieve this vision they work across all industry sectors, as well as with schools, State and Local Governments, community groups and individuals. They promote and encourage environmental sustainability via the joint implementation of and/or providing grants for various programs, including:
- Detox Your Home Days
- ResourceSmart Schools/Offices (Also known as Waste Wise)

School Resources
Council's Waste unit recommends the ResourceSmart Australian Sustainable Schools Initiative Victoria (AuSSI Vic) as a holistic approach to sustainability. It integrates educational, environmental, social and economic outcomes so that schools do not see each area in isolation but as components of the bigger picture of sustainability.
