East Gippsland Livestock Exchange

Q-Fever Vaccinations April 28 2017

If you work with cattle, especially dairy cattle, sheep and goats, you may have an increased risk of Q-Fever infection.

This includes jobs in abattoirs, stock exchanges, shearers, wool sorters, livestock transporters and veterinary practice staff.

If not treated, Q-Fever may result in severe long-term chronic illness. This can include inflammation of the heart, persistent infections in the liver, brain and bones, and debilitating fatigue. Vaccination gives you life-long immunity to Q-Fever.

A vaccination session will be held as follows:

Bairnsdale City Oval, Boolarumah Function Room (across the road from livestock exchange) 11 Saleyards Road Bairnsdale

Friday 28 April

8.00 am - 2.30 pm.

Please call 0476 101 833 or see Gippsland Primary Health Network website for more information.

Upcoming Meat and Livestock Australia levy forum

Cattle, sheep and goat producers in Bairnsdale are invited to meet with Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) and their Peak Industry Councils on 20 May to have a say on the future direction of how their levies are being invested.

MLA Managing Director Richard Norton will host a series of 'Your Levy, Your Industry' forums in May and June, to give producers an opportunity to meet with him and discuss firsthand their marketing and research and development priorities.

The Bairnsdale meeting is being held from 9am to 1.30pm on 20 May at the Bairnsdale Sporting/Convention Centre, 117 Great Alpine Road.

All producers are welcome to attend these free forums, a BBQ lunch will be provided. To register, go to MLA website for more information.
