Energy Efficiency Projects
East Gippsland Shire Council has secured more than $1.7 million in Commonwealth Government energy efficiency funding. The money is being used to cut energy costs and reduce carbon emissions by 1,000 tonnes each year, through the Bright Futures program.

Replaced 2,629 residential street lights (spanning over 1,360 km of roads) that used 80 watt globes, with new 18 watt LED fittings to make energy savings of 70%. This is a photo of the first 18 watt LED street lights being installed in the Shire:
The Bairnsdale Aquatic and Recreation Centre (BARC) has installed a mix of heat recovery equipment, pool blankets, cogeneration, energy-smart lighting and more.
This indoor heated swimming pool has upgraded its heating and cooling equipment, using a mix of the latest technologies.
Energy costs are being reduced in the main council office building in Bairnsdale after energy efficient heating and cooling were installed and internal lighting was upgraded to LED.
Funding is from the Australian Government as part of the Community Energy Efficiency Program.
