Paynesville and Eagle Point Structure Plans
In 2013 and early 2014 East Gippsland Shire undertook work via a planning consultant to prepare structure plans for both Eagle Point and the western section of Paynesville. This work included significant community involvement by both the consultants and Shire staff. The message we clearly heard was that these were special areas and needed careful planning to preserve their identity and uniqueness.
When the draft plans were received, Shire staff considered that they needed further work to meet the expectation of the community and deliver development in keeping with the character and potential for the two areas. Therefore the process has been slowed down to ensure that the plans meet their original intent.
Shire staff have recently reviewed the Paynesville Plan with input from the State government and technical professionals. A new plan is now being developed that will incorporate the original community input and will include future opportunities for community review and input.
The Eagle Point plan will be recommended later this year and will follow a similar process.
