The library has wide range of programs, resources and activities for kids of all ages.

 

School Holiday Program

The library runs a variety of free activity sessions during the school holidays, for children aged between 5 and 12.  Visit the library events page to see what's on.

The Summer Reading Club runs from 1 December 2014 - 31 January 2015.

 

Download a copy of the reading log and start recording the titles of the books you read during the two month period.

Storytime

Storytime sessions for children aged 2-5 and their parents/guardians are held weekly. The sessions run for approximately 45 minutes and include stories, songs, dancing, poems and rhymes, and craft activity.

Storytime aims.

  • Encourage children to develop a love of reading, books and libraries at a young age.
  • Stimulate imagination, ideas and interests.
  • Teach effective listening skills.
  • Help develop pre-reading skills.
  • Introduce the library as a fun, inviting place to be for children and parents.
  • Become aware of library resources.
  • Provide opportunities to socialise with other children and caregivers, and have fun.

Bairnsdale Library Tuesdays at 11.00 am

Lakes Entrance Library Tuesdays at 11.00 am

Omeo Library Wednesdays at 12.00 noon

Orbost Library Tuesdays at 10.30 am

Paynesville Library Tuesdays at 11.00 am

Rhymetime

Rhymetime sessions for babies aged 0-2 and their parents/guardians are held weekly at most of our Libraries. The sessions run for 30 minutes and are designed to encourage parents and carers to share rhymes and songs with babies from birth.

TumbleBooks

TumbleBooks is an online collection of animated, talking children’s books which teach young children the joys of reading in a format they'll love.

Britannica Online

Britannica Online Library Edition provides access to encyclopaedia content for all age levels. It includes journal and magazine articles, editor chosen and approved websites, a world atlas, country comparisons and much more.

Encyclopaedia Britannica Online Library Edition offers three different levels.

  • Primary Britannica - Introductory-level content for young students aged 6-10.
  • Britannica Student - Intermediate-level content for students aged 10-14.
  • Encyclopaedia Britannica - Advanced-level content for older students and adults.

Each level provides a suite of features to browse the corresponding encyclopaedia and is an excellent source of information for school projects.
