Individuals can access and browse the East Gippsland Shire Council website without disclosing personal information. The only locations on the website where personal information is collected are the Report an Issue page and the Payments - Online section. Personal information submitted by the website user to the Report an Issue page is needed to ensure a reply to the enquiry and no information will be released to a third party unless Council is required to do so by law.
The Payments - Online section offers a secure online payment option through the National Australia Bank's "National Secure Internet Payment Service" (N‑SIPS). This facility provides security and privacy for both the customer and Council. The customer provides their credit card details directly to the National Australia Bank (NAB), and Council receives an approval code from the NAB, guaranteeing payments.
The ‘Thumbs Up/Down’ facility on each page is an anonymous feedback rating and no personal information is collected.
If you wish to access personal information held by Council about you, assistance is available from Council’s Governance Officer. Where Council holds personal information about an individual and that information is found to be incorrect, Council will take all reasonable steps to correct the information as soon as practicable.
