Seeking feedback on speed limits

Friday 08 September

East Gippsland Shire Council is seeking feedback on proposed speed limit changes in Mallacoota.

This follows concerns raised with council by community groups and local residents.

Maps showing the proposed changes and a short survey are available on council’s Your Say East Gippsland website, yoursay.eastgippsland.vic.gov.au, and at the Mallacoota Customer Service Centre.

The community is invited to provide feedback by completing the survey or putting their comments in writing.

Council is looking for first-hand, factual information to assist the review process.

The proposed changes are based on the National Road Safety Strategy’s - Safe System approach, which assesses the road safety of all road users by utilising data, research and evaluation to understand crashes and risks.

Examples of the proposed changes include reducing the speed limit on selected urban roads to 50km/h and a section of Karbeethong Road to 80km/h.

Feedback on the Mallacoota Township Speed Reduction Proposal closes Monday, September 18 at 5pm.
