Club Terrace Loop Road closure
Friday 17 March
A failed culvert on Club Terrace Loop Road in Club Terrace requires a section of the road to be closed from Monday, 20 March until further notice.
East Gippsland Shire Council Director Operations Chris Waites said the major culvert had been constructed almost 12 months ago.
“The faults were identified as part of regular inspections during the construction contract’s defects liability (warranty) period. Council will work with the contractor to have the defects remedied,” Mr Waites said.
“Club Terrace Loop Road is a council-managed road. Staff have made the decision to close the road and are in the process of contacting adjoining landowners. About a dozen properties are directly affected by the closure.”
The closure is from 2.2 km south of the Combienbar Road/Club Terrace Loop Road intersection and 6.9 km north of the Princes Highway/Club Terrace Loop Road intersection (southern end).
“Council staff are working with the contractor to identify the cause of the failure and identify the process for remediation so that the road can be reopened. The failure will require the complete replacement of the culvert” Mr Waites said.
