Business grants for Lakes Entrance

Thursday 10 August

Over recent weeks Lakes Entrance retail traders have had an opportunity to participate in the Make Your Business Shine Project.

The East Gippsland Shire Council initiative focuses on business training opportunities, mentoring and quick response grants for retailers in Lakes Entrance.

The program has provided business development workshops, visual assessments of retail space as well as mentoring sessions. The project also offers access to quick response grants to assist in upgrading tired shopfronts.

Mayor Cr Joe Rettino said expected outcomes from the project’s training and grants include improvements to the retail shopping experience in Lakes Entrance through a better in-store experience and appearance of shop fronts.

“Two grants have been allocated to date with three more expected to be allocated shortly. We have had 12 businesses attend the workshops and mentoring sessions. The project complements Council’s infrastructure works in Lakes Entrance,” Cr Rettino said.

Lakes Entrance CBD retailers interested in applying for one of the grants to upgrade their shopfront will find the application form and guidelines on Council’s website.

Applications are assessed as they are received and limited funding is available.

The final date for applications is Saturday, September 30.
