For a comfortable overnight stay in East Gippsland, pull into a caravan park in Bairnsdale, Bemm River, Bruthen, Buchan, Cann River, Cape Conran, Eagle Point, Genoa, Johnsonville, Lake Tyers, Lakes Entrance, Mallacoota, Marlo, Nicholson, Nowa Nowa, Omeo, Orbost, Paynesville, Swan Reach, Swifts Creek and Wuk Wuk. East Gippsland offers designated free rest areas at the Murrangower turn-off, Princes Highway near Orbost, in Livingston Park, Omeo, at the Mount Kosciuszko Lookout, Great Alpine Road, and the Metung hot pools site at the junction of Metung Road and Rosherville Road.

Free dump sites in East Gippsland can be found at the Progress Jetty Toilet Block in Paynesville, Nicholson River Reserve Boat Ramp in Nicholson, Bullock Island Road Car Park in Lakes Entrance (near the boat ramp), the Wulgulmerang Recreational Reserve in Wulgulmerang, Cann River Rainforest Caravan Park in Cann River and both the Buckland Drive toilet block (near the wharf) and Mallacoota Foreshore Caravan Park in Mallacoota. There also are dump sites at the Omeo Caravan Park and the Eagle Point Caravan Park.
